This boat appears to be in great condition at a distance and close up did not disappoint. All of the hatch covers had snap on canvasses, which I immediately inquired to the owner. He explained that they really help keep the cabin cooler and were in the contrasting bright blue canvass cockpit cover as pictured which was all in very good condition including the camper top and eisenglass (which are stored pristinely rolled up in sheets to overprotect the fabric and glass). Stepping aboard and walking through the transom door was a transom bench seat folded down and an opposite facing bench with flip back and fold down foot rest. All of that provides a full aft lounger for sunning. The snap down cockpit carpet was all in great shape as well as all of the upholstery through out the cockpit. -Even the captain's seat all in great shape. An addition to the cockpit on the radar arch is a GFI outlet and cover for convenience.The helm station includes an adjustable seat for the helms person with a bolster. The split seat is extra wide for a companion to join you at the helm. Analog gauges are arranged conveniently so you can keep a sharp eye on the operation while cruising along, and aircraft style flip switches give you control of all powered accessories from the helm. Across from the helm is a large L-shaped seat which converts into a sun lounger with a flip over backrest facing either forward for underway or backwards for more room in the lower cockpit area. A large engine hatch in the floor has two pulls. The hatch springs up easily, and has gas-assist shocks to keep it open. Plenty of room below to work around the engines in the monster engine space. You have a walk-through transom for access to the swim platform. The swim platform is also a spacious area for playing in the water. They have an integral 20" deep platform with deployable ladder and handle for easy boarding. Along the stern is another handrail for safety while hanging out back here on the hook. Storage for fenders and lines is molded into the back lazzarette opening which contains your battery switch.The beam forward design benefits are apparent below, with the spacious cabin this 28-footer offers. It sports a full-featured galley with a sink, single alcohol/electric dual burner and microwave oven. The galley also includes a dual voltage refrigerator to keep the food ready to eat. There is space to install a coffee maker above the galley with sliding door storage next to it. The only possible items that needed attention were the center line of carpeting in the cabin which might stand a quick scrub and the horn is out of order although the owner has a canister air horn ready at stand by. That's it! Everything else in the boat is immaculate!The V-berth is a full six feet down the center line, and there are storage shelves above and on either side. Mounted on a swivel bracket next to the galley is a 19" flat screen TV and DVD player. The stereo and CD player are down stairs but there is a remote on the dash of the console for added convenience. Two speakers down and two on the arch provides a great sound system. Besides all of the custom added canvass hatch covers they all come with screens as well. Curtains hang across all of the window areas for added security. Over on the starboard side are two facing benches with a table that drops down to form another berth at night. One can only image the great meals to be eaten on this large dining table and the family card and board games to be played at night. Through a door and under the cockpit is another berth with a queen sized bed and a dresser area as you first enter the stateroom. Plenty of natural lighting from portals abound in this set up.There is a full wet head compartment with nice ceiling heights to starboard. The bottom of the shower is a custom added dark Brazilian wood grate...looks really nice! There is a macerator as well. The entire boat is as clean as could be and smells great. The top step contains a convenient trash receptacle within easy reach of the galley.The 285 Cruiser measures in at 28'9" length overall and 29'6" fully rigged and ready to travel. She is 9'10" in the beam and has a 21-degree deadrise for best stability and ride. She weighs in approximately 7241 lbs with the 5.7 L engine which is a 350 Mag MPI MerCruiser with Bravo III drive. She can carry up to 33 gallons of fresh water and holds up to 20 gallons of wastewater before looking for a pump out station. Her fuel capacity is 102 gallons. She carries a hull draft of only 20 inches and a draft with the outdrive down of 37 inches with stainless steel dual props.This boat is a "Pride of Ownership" vessel.
